Gene Watson Peer's Quote from Kenyon Lockry: August 2017

Gene Watson's Peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene Watson's Peers, who were contacted by The Gene Watson Fan Site, during 2017, were most gracious with their time and words.

It is here, within this special part of The Gene Watson Fan Site, that you have an opportunity to read a quote from Kenyon Lockry, which he submitted to this site on Tuesday 15 August 2017.

Sean Brady would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Kenyon Lockry who has made a special contribution to a unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

This quote was submitted on Tuesday 15 August 2017.

'Gene Watson sounds like Texas.

Driving down 35 listening to Bob Wills (Monday 6 March 1905 - Tuesday 13 May 1975) is always a great idea; listening to Mr. Watson has the same effect on me.

He's the real deal.

Of course, you don't need me to say that; millions of fans already have!'

Thank you, Kenyon Lockry, for your support of Gene Watson.

About Kenyon Lockry...

Kenyon Lockry

Kenyon Lockry was, in January 2006, surprised to learn that a five song demo he had recorded in Nashville, made its way into the hands of country music legend Mel Tillis (Monday 8 August 1932 - Sunday 19 November 2017), who immediately wanted to meet Kenyon.

Mel Tillis (Monday 8 August 1932 - Sunday 19 November 2017) invited Kenyon Lockry to stay on his farm outside Nashville and to help introduce him to the 'right people'.

Mel Tillis (Monday 8 August 1932 - Sunday 19 November 2017) also signed Kenyon Lockry to a management deal.

For the next five to six years, Kenyon Lockry recorded three albums and toured widely throughout the United States.

Touring with Mel Tillis (Monday 8 August 1932 - Sunday 19 November 2017) brought Kenyon Lockry to the top of the world for a country singer, gracing the hallowed stage of The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

Kenyon Lockry stated, 'I can’t begin to list all that Mel has taught me about showmanship, songwriting, singing, and the music itself.  I can’t thank Mel enough'.

Kenyon Lockry: 'It's About That Time' (Kenyon Lockry Music, 2012)

On Friday 9 March 2012, Kenyon Lockry saw the release of his debut album, 'It's About That Time' (Kenyon Lockry Music, 2012), which was produced by Jamie Carter, and included the following tracks:

'Honky Tonk Til' I'm Over You'
'I Didn't Grow Up Pickin' Cotton'
'Pickin' Up My Pride'
'My Lil' Fiance'
'Let's Write Ourselves A Love Song'
'Tossin' & Turnin' For You'
'Lovin's What I Do Best'
'Baby I'm Sorry Too'
'Follow His Light & Be Redeemed'
'It's About That Time'

Kenyon Lockry: 'Family Man' (Kenyon Lockry Music, 2016)

'On My Way'
'Sweet Lil' Nora June'
'Lil' Kenyon'
'Let Your Worries Blow Away In The Wind'
'We've Got A Good Thing' / this track was a duet with Jenni
'Minutes Pass'

Kenyon Lockry's 'Family Man' (Kenyon Lockry Music, 2016) was considered to be 'a concept album which touches on the phase of life Kenyon is enjoying now'; with gentlemanly, sunbeam-strobed home-folk bounce, Kenyon shares his world and the cherished ones populating it.  An unhurried, loose-limbed family album of universal import'.

Kenyon Lockry has performed with or opened for a number of country music artists, including the following:
