Gene Watson's Peers: Quote from Sarah Gayle Meech: February 2017

Gene Watson's Peers within the country music industry believe in the sheer talent of this unassuming man from east Texas, so much so that Gene is regarded by many of them as 'the singer's singer' - and rightly so!

All of Gene Watson's Peers, who were contacted by The Gene Watson Fan Site, during 2017, were most gracious with their time and words.

It is here, within this special part of The Gene Watson Fan Site, that you have an opportunity to read a quote from Sarah Gayle Meech, which she submitted to this site on Saturday 11 February 2017.

Sean Brady would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to Sarah Gayle Meech who has made a special contribution to a unique part of this online 'celebration of a Lone Star Hero'.

'
I really don't know anything about Gene Watson, but I do know that he is a great singer.

Gene Watson: 'Old Loves Never Die' (MCA Records, 1981)

I do like his song 'Fourteen Karat Mind', which was written by Dallas Frazier (Friday 27 October 1939 - Friday 14 January 2022) and Larry Lee Favorite (Saturday 6 January 1940 - Saturday 26 May 2001)'

Thank you, Sarah Gayle Meech, for your support of Gene Watson.

About Sarah Gayle Meech...

Sarah Gayle Meech

Sarah Gayle Meech, a country music singer and songwriter, was raised in the small logging town of Longview, Washington, and grew up listening to the classic sounds of traditional country music.

Blessed with a strong, passionate and expressive voice, Sarah Gayle Meech relocated to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in country music, coming into her own as both a singer and as a songwriter, and becoming a vital part of California's unique country music scene.

Sooner or later, Nashville calls every country music performer home, though, and Sarah Gayle Meech moved to Nashville in 2010, worked on establishing connections, picked up what gigs she could and further honed her songwriting skills.

Sarah Gayle Meech's traditional approach earned her performing residencies at both Layla's Bluegrass Inn and Robert's Western World in Nashville and further expanded her possibilities.

Sarah Gayle Meech caught the ear of Andy Gibson, who had worked with Hank 3 (Hank Williams III); Andy Gibson recorded and produced Sarah Gayle Meech's debut album in his home studio.

On 'Tennessee Love Song' (Sarah Gayle Meech Independent Release, 2015), Sarah Gayle Meech explored themes of love, heartache, loss and loneliness, achieving a perfect balance that truly exemplified her character.

Sarah Gayle Meech stated that she drew inspiration from personal experiences, Southern Gothic literature and 'all the crazy weather and beautiful landscapes in Tennessee.  I made it exactly how I wanted to.  I had a vision and was able to bring it to life.  I wrote every song, co-produced it and handpicked the players'.

Sarah Gayle Meech also stated that she was always intrigued by Tennessee’s history and spiritual energy, with her musical influences being 'literally, all over the place!  At the time, I was listening to a lot of Glen Campbell (Wednesday 22 April 1936 - Tuesday 8 August 2017), Carole King, Don Williams (Saturday 27 May 1939 - Friday 8 September 2017), Faces, Merle Haggard (Tuesday 6 April 1937 - Wednesday 6 April 2016), Neko Case, Johnny Lee, Dawes, Aretha Franklin (Wednesday 25 March 1942 - Thursday 16 August 2018), Tammy Wynette (Tuesday 5 May 1942 - Monday 6 April 1998), Dwight Yoakam…too many to name.  I love and am inspired by so many different artists'.

As her popularity grew, so did Sarah Gayle Meech's achievements.

Sarah Gayle Meech had a song and performance featured on the new season on ABC's 'Nashville', frequent airplay on SiriusXM’s 'Outlaw Country', songs featured on hit science fiction television series, 'Justified', won the 2015 'Best Outlaw Female' Ameripolitan Award and played alongside Merle Haggard (Tuesday 6 April 1937 - Wednesday 6 April 2016) at the first annual Ink 'n' Iron convention in Nashville in the summer of 2015.
